BMW

My love affair with German cars is all my parents fault. I grew up being driven around in a succession of BMWs, and I can still remember the feeling of pride at being occaisonally let loose out on my own in my parents BMW when Dad was feeling generous, which to be fair was fairly often.
It started in 1983 with a bog standard Y-reg 316 in white, and continued on to a white B-reg 318i, a D-reg white 320i, an E-reg - blue! - 325i and then for some reason (I expect the price and the fact it was special order only!) didn’t continue into an M3 but went backwards to another white 318i. With the exception of the first 316, these were all E30 series cars. I guess my parents liked white cars!
However the seed was planted. The E30 M3; wow what a car. It cleaned up in the BTCC touring car series against the Sierra Cosworths. One day…
My first BMW was a used E-reg 320i SE auto in dolphin grey, which I bought off a friend. I’ve had two more BMWs since then; a 1990 E34 535i Sport and, finally, after 16 years of waiting… a 1989 E30 M3.
